Beni sent me this video. The song is pretty meh but the video rocks. I love pop-up books!!!

Oren Lavie - Her Morning Elegance
Found this on Grace's blog. It's damn amazing. I love it. I've always thought if Allura were to ever shoot a music video, they should do it stop-motion in a 'Pushing Daisies' kinda psychedelic setting.
Michel Gondry to direct Green Hornet?!
Director of 'Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind' (amazing movie) and 'Be Kind Rewind', Michel Gondry takes over from Stephen Chow for the live-action movie. It sounds so bizarre that it might actually work. Read about it here. I still think Ang Lee's 'Hulk' was very good but was crippled by a disasterous ending... like the Edward Norton's version as well.
All About My Dog: Marimo
Found this on Chingz' blog. Super emo short film...
N.E.R.D. - Sooner Or Later (live)
I'm not really a fan but for this year's Mosaic Music Festival, I'm just going to check out the acts due to the ferocity of their live shows. This should be quite fun!
Fennesz - Hunting High And Low
Electronic/ ambient sound musician Fennesz (interview here) covers A-Ha's 'Hunting High And Low' in his trademark sound. It's damn weird... but really cool at the same time.
Depeche Mode - Wrong
The new single off their upcoming album Sounds Of The Universe, out on 20 April 2009. Sounds pretty promising. Way much better than 'Barrel Of A Gun' back in the Ultra days.
I love Depeche Mode. Hopefully, they will add a Singapore tour date this year!!! I don't think I have enough appendages on my body to count the number of friends who will catch them if they are playing in town.

Funny People trailer
Directed by Judd Apatow, it stars Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Jason Schwartzman, Eric Bana (going back to his roots as a comedian) and Leslie Mann and Apatow and Mann's kids who were in 'Knocked Up' as well. Oh yeah, Adam Sandler headlines the show. Not a fan of the man but he seems to be putting some good work here.
Land of The Lost clip
Everybody should do their own side project...
Inch of Allura has her own solo project going on as well. It's a mish-mash of electronica (ala Psapp) and singer-songwriter stuff. Check it out here.
I must really get down to doing a singer-songwriter thing. Hopefully, one day I'll get around to it... and warble some tunes. You know, it's just a guy, an acoustic guitar and his feelings...

The Softlightes - The Microwave Song
The video's pretty cute. There's a link to their song on the right, courtesy of Nat. The tune is from their album which is called Say No! To Being Cool. Say Yes! To Being Happy. Gotta love the title man!

Super Hyper Real
Found this on Kanye West's blog. The rest of the pictures are there as well. Very interesting stuff.
According to his blog:
It's shot by Super Hyper Real - Jing Quek is a Chinese photographer from Singapore.
Ahoy Envoy
Well, apparently, Mark of Allura has a solo side-project, Ahoy Envoy which he lets his singer-songwriter side roam free. Check it out here.
As much as I'd like to kickstart my own personal singer-songwriter project, I can't sing for shit. I don't even sing in the shower. I beatbox. Yes, that's one random fact about me I left out in the Facebook notes. That's right: I beatbox in the shower.
Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel trailer
Ever since Biddy joined the trio of hairy men, the revitalised Breakbeat Theory has been on the roll. Their EP is done but I've no idea what they are going to do with it. Maybe if you ask them nicely, they will send the album to you. Heh.
In any case, all their recorded tracks are up on their MySpace page. Great stuff. Check that out.
I still wanna watch the movie 'The Wrestler'. Anyone keen?
The Lard Brothers Remix Sessions
So far we have 4 remixes down. I'm trying to finish up 4 more and get permission to put all of them up for free download as a 8-track EP. Sorta something to put out before we drop our next full-length album Simply As Designed.
The remix EP will tentatively titled The Lard Brothers Remix Sessions or My Grandmother Can Remix Better Than You, Fatboy!. If so, I can't wait for the sequel If Your Grandmother Is So Good, Ask Her Come And Remix Lah!. If got time, the 3rd one will be called Lai!!!.
In any case, the remix EP would come out probably in end April. As for Simply As Designed, we are still aiming for an increasingly impossible release date of National Day 9 August 2009. There is a change in the line-up. More details will be released in the near future.
One of the acts which I've consistently pestered to take their stems is Like Silver, Adlin and Chingz's electro-pop act. We were supposed to play together this coming Friday in KL for a JUNK-Heineken event. Unfortunately, they postponed our slot to an indefinite date in the future. Sianzzz.
In any case, Like Silver is still performing this Friday at Zouk KL. They uploaded a new song called 'The Pattern' on their MySpace page. I think Adlin also likes the new J.J. Abrams show 'Fringe'. Heh. They blogged "Our little ditty (is) about the master computer getting binary loving from its acolyte squad. The master computer is out to enslave us all!"

When I grow up, I wanna be David Gilmour...
... or Leslie Low.
He's just way too prolific!!! After releasing a new full-length, he's offering another EP for free download. His main band, The Observatory is heading up to Norway to record their 4th album. Cannot tahan! Too hardworking!
From his website mailer:
Hello my friend, There is an EP called Meandering Loss in the DOWNLOAD section of www.leslielow.com
This is shot during their The Bends era when they will pull out a weird cover or two. This is a cover of Carly Simon's 'Nobody Does It Better', the theme song from the 1977 James Bond movie 'The Spy Who Loved Me'. Nice.

Franz Ferdinand - Ulysses (live)
They are back. The new album is pretty decent. Here's an old video of them playing 'The Fallen' with a couple of drummers. Multiple drummers rock.
Friday the 13th
Once in a while, Robin's ass gets itchy and he would wanna play some covers (namely 3 sets of 8 songs) with a friend singing. We did it last year with Bryan, his friend. And this year, he got the SYT above, Corrinne to provide her pipes. For a marine engineer, he sure knows a thing or two about marketing. Sex sells...
And I like to do stupid things like my friend. It's my hobby.
So I volunteered my services for the 3rd set, enticing the both of them to do some Beyoncé covers. Unfortunately, we will be playing the perennially irritating 'Zombie' by The Cranberries. Well, it was a real hoot when we did Snow Patrol's 'Chasing Cars' last year.
No matter, at least, we are doing 'Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)'. Though I'm sure there're quite a few of you guys who will be willing to pay 2 beers to watch me dance like this:
No.
I'm not doing that.
But it still amazes me how the 2 music directors (the bassist with the blonde cornbraids and the female Lenny Krativz) arrange the entire tune.
Oh yeah. The details.
Venue: Cafe Domus, 124 Owen Road Date: Friday 13 February 2009 Time: 9pm Admission: Free Buy me a beer
The video's pretty hilarious. The ultimate frat boy anthem.
Jay-Z & T.I. Featuring Kanye West, Lil Wayne & MIA - Swagga Like Us (live)
It's a bit too much. But MIA looks pretty funny in the get-up, being heavily preggers and all. Check this video of Chris Martin and Jay-Z on Coldplay's 'Lost' and it segues into 'Viva La Vida'.

Regina Spektor - Real Love (live)
The undeniably cute Regina Spektor covers John Lennon. She looks as if she can rock a blood red lipstick like Anne Hathaway. Noice...

The Land Of The Lost teaser
It stars Will Farrell, the amazingly funny Danny McBride and the irresistably cute Anna Friel who is sporting her natural British accent. There's something incredibly sexy about the British accent. I dunno why... There's a longer clip here.
Air - La Femme D'Argent
Got it off Grace. The video is pretty good and has a commentary on all the tracks off their debut album Moon Safari. Check out all those vintage synths and the Rhodes!!! Adooi...

You And Whose Army?
Apparently, there are some new songs on You And Whose Army?'s MySpace page. Benita and fellow serious sound artist Adam play in the band. They have pretty interesting stuff. My itchy backside is remixing their tune 'Misplaced' which is not on their MySpace player.
I chose the above picture because you can't see Beni's face. Hurhur...
Hmmm... part 41
I've just gotten a computerised from the National Library asking me to pay my library fines. Fuck, I didn't know government bodies did sequels too. Especially to the incident involving claiming-back-fees activities which cost more than what they can get back.
And I owe them $3. Ah well. At least, the Esplanade Library has a great selection of vintage DVDs.

Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen trailer
More giant fuckin' robots fighting giant fuckin' robots! Woo hoo! I can't wait!
